• I’m on fully on team Fuck AI.

but this does amuse me, that him and his team couldnt even prevent the very predictable.

Its like how musk spent a year trying to make Grok suck his dick, and it still calls him a nazi loser.

The problem for them is that to make a Large Language Model, is it needs to consume a large amount of language. Meaning, to get even a semblance of basic functionality - literally putting together a grammatically correct sentence - means it will need to consume many orders of magnitude more language examples than their right-wing bullshit mill has ever produced. It could consume the entirety of Fox News’ catalogue and not reach even a fraction of what most LLM models have been trained on.

It’s currently impossible for an LLM to exist without having been trained on an absolute assload of progressive literature.

    • 1 day

I like the suggestion that they would include top secret documents in its training data. Although I wouldn’t be surprised from this administration.

  • Please please I really hope they will force US companies to start calling their chatbots SI instead of AI, and forbid them from using the term AI.

That would be such a funny PR/marketing nightmare. It’s such a cringe term :D

  • 2 days

Trump calling it “Super Intelligence” only for the government’s own AI to contradict his election claims is almost too perfect. Apparently even a chatbot trained under his administration looked at the evidence and said: nope. Then came the inevitable upgrade: stop answering political questions before the machine commits any more inconvenient acts of fact checking.

    • It’s not trained for this, it’s just Gemini and maybe a fine tune, probably running on Google adk or lang chain.

It’s a Google partnership, so that’s what they’d be using.

      • 2 days

Surprised this administration doesn’t go with Mecha Hitler. Maybe he’s worried he’ll get one upped by it. Or perhaps the Musk/Trump breakup was nastier than I thought.

Is their couple name Trusk or Mump?

  • As delusional as AI can be, they don’t even begin to approach the psychotic insanity of the child rapist and his magats.

    • At least AI hasn’t raped kids.

Yes it has made child porn of them, but that’s because sick fucks asked it to.

  • This is why I’ll never believe the claim that AI will save humanity. It may well give the answers to “save us” but we already know the answer. We just don’t care. We’re not going to listen to AI if we don’t listen to ourselves.

    • It’s a language calculator. It has no intrinsic incentive to tell the truth, it just processes words.

There is no reason to trust AI’s reasoning on what could “save us” even if it offered one.

      • Right, its answer would be a distillation of what humans have written on the topic of how to save us.

        • 2 days

          what humans have written

a highly curated selection that panders to the views of the AI’s sponsors

          • We are not yet at the point LLM are so dependent on advertising and “partnerships” that they are totally biased in favor of specific brands… not yet…

Take a time to anticipate how the actual state will soon be regreted…

            • 1 day

Im just hoping that the LLMs that are trained to push views that are at odds with reality struggle with basic reasoning, making them inferior models to LLMs trained on a more diverse worldview. I hope.

              • My guess is we will see some less convenient models, that gives better result but a “weird” way ; and far more very convenient models, easy to use, but that generate advertisings as a result (maybe even with promo codes!)…

Remember how internet search have evolved, how youtube has became, how everything went when finance guys decided it was time for harvest…

Now look at this new field, see how they grow it… what are the odds their plan is to harvest it at some point?

              • I think the idea that “better training = better LLM’s” is AI industry marketing hype. It’s a pretty shoddy technology on a basic level. There are applications in computer science of LLM tech, but this chatbot shit has got to stop.

      • 1 day

Far apart from anything else it would just be regurgitating what somebody had already previously said and was previously ignored. Although I suppose maybe would have more weight coming from the “almighty AI”?

      • 2 days

Some people will even argue with regular number calculators.

        • I’m not sure if there is some subtext being lost, but if your point is that we should trust AI with how to ‘save us’, then why aren’t you following it right now? It’s perfectly happy to offer an answer and it will even sound very convincing. But there is no reason to think it actually has the correct answer, or even knows what the problem is.

          • No, my point is that even if the AI was 100% correct and gave humanity the best advice to solve all of our problems, we still wouldn’t follow it. Because we don’t want to. We live in a society that’s broken on purpose, and a lot of people want to keep it that way, and have convinced a great many people to support things against humanity’s own interest.

            • If an AI was provably 100% correct then I guarantee you people would listen to it.

People seek for god & other higher powers for much less reasonable logic than “a machine that is always correct no matter what”.

The reality is AI as it’s known today (generative stochastic models) can not ever reach “100% correct”, by definition of being a generative stochastic model. So you’re essentially discussing a fantasy computer that we are not close to every having IRL -> It’s not relevant.

              • Disagree. The AI will say things like taxing the rich more or preserve nature etc. Society won’t listen to that, or more precisely won’t follow this advice, because the deciders do not like this idea.

                • 17 hours

Yeah and it’s not 100% correct. It makes mistakes and says incorrect things all the time - thus it shouldn’t be used to govern even if it happens to agree with you on some issues.

“The AI says the thing I like on the handful of buzzword issues I tested. Let’s hand it the keys to the entire world and let stuff get nutty”

              • If an AI was provably 100% correct then I guarantee you people would listen to it.

Intelligent people will believe the most obvious nonsense sometimes; engineers are represented among young-Earth creationists for example.

That’s not true. For less than $15k and a high electricity bill, you can train and run very powerful AI models yourself, today. And you have broad choices of which open weight model to run. And it’s easy to switch them out. No “they” in the mix at all

          1. 99% of people do not have 15k to spend on AI

          2. nor do they have extra money to pay high electricity bills NOR pay for good information feeds to feed the model

          3. for now. “They” are just beginning the legislative process. In 20 years what will the landscape lookblike? What kinds of blocks, filters, gov reporting will be mandated?

If in 20 years time having a graphics card is illegal, y’all might as well go ahead and collectively commit sudoku as a nation.

            • Between phones, tablets, and data centers the age of mass market affordable PC parts is fading.

              Hope it rebounds but idk.

              • You could always hire people to be your shipping agents and you could have your stuff sent from China to an EU country and then here. Pay the cheap china prices, pay the vat shipping from the EU country and then have it shipped to the US .

Then you pay off your people overseas every month like a subscription service fee.

        • I’m keen on local models but prices are getting out of hand. I insured my workstation recently for more than twice what I built it for, because it’d cost that to rebuild it with identical parts.

          • My graphics card, which I bought used, is now worth more than the entire rest of my computer was new. This is nuts!

    • It could be functional and fine (and largely useless), but the issue is one of these toadies is going to make it malfunctional, and therein lies the problem.

  • Trump’s reaction was probably something along the lines of “shut up stupid piggy, you are stupid and fake, also ugly. I am going to call you pig intelligence from now on.”

  • 2 days

They locked it down pretty hard to answer only government questions

  • If I could destroy AI, I would definetly do it and say fuck your stupid ass bitch ass Trump🤣🖕
