Major changes for the Halo series as Microsoft gives the next major game to Activision to make.

Can you imagine being Chips-ahoy and messing up your chocolate chip cookie so bad no one cares about it?

14 days“Activision subcontracts Halo development to struggling studio, Bungie.”
That’d be weird.
- SlurpingPus@lemmy.worldEnglish13 days
Activision actually did publishing for Bungie through the 2010s.
But the cherry on that hypothetical cake is that Sony currently owns Bungie.
- very_well_lost@lemmy.worldEnglish14 days
I’m sure Bungie would be happy to have the work, given their current catalog…

14 daysListen, the marines were always cooler than the spartans. They were just normal humans against giant fuckin monsters with gravity hammers and energy swords.
This trailer still goes hard:

14 daysThank fuck halo is finally out from under the evil and twisted Microsoft! Now it can finally thrive under the great and understanding company Microsoft!

The last halo game was reach. I dont acknowledge anything past that. I might play the later games, but they arent halo

13 daysHalo Infinite had great gameplay, but it was ruined with moronic challenges which moved the objectives away from winning, and towards “I need to get 20 kills with this shitty weapon, even if it costs my team the win”.
Objectives which move players away from actually playing the game are bad game design.

My thoughts on it (speaking of the campaign specifically) were that it had good gameplay elements in a bad gameplay context. The open world design just muted the action and thinned out the goals to accomplish without adding anything of value other than traversal. The few times I played multiplayer it did seem pretty decent, but I just dont care about that anymore since I only ever enjoyed halo multiplayer on a small scale with friends in the same room.
Zozano@aussie.zoneEnglish
13 daysI can only comment on the multiplayer, I haven’t played the campaign.
- 14 days
Can’t say I’m particularly excited about Activision taking over, but this was a mercy killing.
- 14 days
I mean, not thrilled Activision has it, but at this point literally anyone other than Halo Studios would be better.
marighost@piefed.socialEnglish
14 daysWell I suppose it’ll be hard to do any worse than 343/Halo Studios has done with the franchise.
- lIlIlIlIlIlIl@lemmy.worldEnglish14 days
Never played an activision game, I take it? The floor is miles below the earth
M137@lemmy.todayEnglish
13 daysI kinda feel like it’ll be better because it’s so obvious it’ll be shit. I haven’t care about Halo since Halo: Reach but it seems like 343/Halo Studios managed to make people hope and then deliver shit every time. Now it’s just “it’ll be shit” which is better, no false hope.
- FluidBeef@quokk.auEnglish13 days
They should farm Windows 12 out to Bungie and then shut them down too.
- myyass@lemmy.worldEnglish13 days
I know it’s funny but the irony is that was one of the scrapped forks of Halo Infinite; as in having operators like COD.

14 daysMicrosoft screws latest Halo Activision screws latest black ops Blizzard screws latest Diablo (is that true? Not played)
Now we swap franchises so people can be milked thinking there might be a chance they will de-shittify it
Master chief and Nicky Minaj and snoop dog, killing unforgiven? (I forget the next level of history back they keep going and what the names are)
We remade halo again again, big news, there’s still a grave mind somewhere! More flood!
Same old cruft. Bad decisions, lay off staff, repeat until they buy another house.
- mursejoy@lemmy.zipEnglish14 days
Good! Never has there been a more deserved studio closure. Campaign Evolved was a rushed mess.
- CluelessCalls@lemmy.worldEnglish13 days
All this time and there’s still never been a better shooter than Golden Eye.
Tattorack@lemmy.worldEnglish
13 daysYeah, but those are a combination of cover based shooter and RPG. Not really in the same vein as your typical shooter.
