  • I know what user agent is, and that isn’t the problem. These are web apps, and they aren’t responding with a “browser not supported” error. They just either do not work, or do not work correctly. I main Librewolf and Firefox (dependent on system). All I ever use Brave Origin (Chrome and Edge before it), is to access a very small set of corporate apps I seldom use. I could spend my valuable time trying to get Chromium to work if it was going to be my main, but in this case it was just way easier to buy Brave Origin and expense it to the client that did not support Firefox.

  • I am a Firefox & forks diehard, but I need a Chromium/Webkit/Whatever based browser for a lot of corporate shit I have to access. So, I bit the bullet and bought Brave Origin. It doesn’t suck. I wouldn’t pick it as my main, but it’s fine. Much better option than Chrome and Edge, that’s for certain.

  • It’s possible but very unlikely given that they were never given to it nor used in any system where LLMs were tested. My guess (pure guess) is that someone (probably thousands of people) asked Claude to build them something to interact with GOG and provided it with their credentials or a cookie. The LLM is probably sitting on a ton of those and it just used one to test it’s work.

  • This indicates that Flock already pretends that it has the technology to track people and just hasn’t deployed it in a manner that is because it is vaporware and it is not usable by its customers.

So far, everything I have seen from Flock, as far as technology goes, has been lowest common denominator trash. Their too strength is their ability to sell to the ignorant, easily impressed, luddite local politicians and law enforcement.

  • Our IT infrastructure is woefully unprepared to guard against the frontier LLM models we have now. I cannot even imagine what the infosec landscape will look like in five years.

Example: I built (as in me, by myself, on Vi) some scripts to backup my GOG library. I added alerts, throttles and a scheduler. All in all, pretty cool functionally but not at all user friendly. So, I asked Claude Fable 5.1 to build a gui app based on my script, and it did. It also tested it and verified it workes by login in and starting a few downloads from its sandbox. Except that I never gave it my GOG credentials. I’ve never logged into GOG from that environment. Claude went out, got someone else’s credentials from somewhere, and initiated a few downloads to make sure the app it built worked. Thank you, I guess??

  • I use Proxmox as a VDI server. I understand that this isn’t homelab territory, but selfhosted VDIs have proven exponentially more reliable and easier to manage than cloud based ones (after the initial PitA setup). Flawless copy/paste, screen resize, and most importantly, file transfers. When you connect to 12 different clients, each with a different set of security requirements, system hardening, monitoring, and VPN access, being able to console amd fully interact with a sandboxed desktop becomes priceless.
