22 hoursWill have to disagree on that one. I’ve gotten hundreds of dollars of cash back on credit cards each year.
Not buying things you can’t afford still applies.

2 daysKeep in mind that Sony can also be betting that not everyone will stop buying completely. Just because 35% bought this game physical does not necessarily mean that when they stop selling discs, they lose 35% of sales. Only half, or a third, or a quarter, might stop, and Sony might be betting that most will just suck it up and continue buying.

2 daysHave you seen how anyone reacts when prices are raised, especially on video games?
Phasmophobia has passed 30 million sales since its Early Access launch, and its Halloween Crimson Eye event is now live until 1st November.

According to retail data, 35% of Marvel’s Wolverine sales were physical discs. This comes from Ampere Analysis (via The Game Business), which tracks sales data across major markets globally.
The data suggests Wolverine shifted 2.16 million units in September (it went on sale September 15), and a significant portion of those sales were on-disc. In Europe, 51% of Wolverine sales came from the boxed version. Zooming in, more than two thirds were physical sales in France, but two thirds were digital in the UK.

2 daysI’m not opposed to the concept of smart appliances. Getting a phone notification when my load of laundry is done. Remotely starting the oven preheat. Having the humidifier interact with the thermostat automatically. Blinds that open on a schedule to gently wake you with natural light.
For the record, I don’t have any of these things, but I like the ideas of them. It’s the kind of stuff I was wide eyed and hopeful about as a sci fi loving kid.
The problem with ask these things is not the connectivity ideas, imho; it’s pretty much capitalism. These things can’t exist in a way that doesn’t also spy on you, build a profile that knows you better than yourself, and sells every last morsel of information to not just the highest bidder, but every bidder.
And to be clear, I don’t mean can’t on a technical level.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•'We're Moving Fast' — Blumhouse Partners With MatPat to Make Amanda the Adventurer Movie, Confirms More Indie Horror Game Adaptations Are Comingbyiamthetot@piefed.caEnglish
3 daysHopefully “moving fast” means securing rights.
The actual quote comes from
MatPat announced that he and Blumhouse are currently in talks with writers and directors, saying they’re “actually moving fast” to get this project made.
So could definitely mean a few different things. He could just mean that he’s not experiencing a lot of red tape or humming and hawing.

It has been an upsetting thread to read; in frustrated on your behalf OP. I think many commenters here have not worked in the kind of environment you’re describing, and “get another job” is deeply unhelpful advice.
