Avid PC gamer, Linux convert, SCP fan.
Love Science Fiction, Cyberpunk, post-apocalyptic settings; Fan of the games of the defunct Arkane Studios. Listening to (Power-, Speed-, Thrash-)Metal, Gothic, Deathrock, EBM, Vaporwave, Lo-Fi; Classic and Musicals are fine too. Can’t stand Hip-Hop.
Owned by two cats, recently divorced, blessed with a personality disorder (AVPD) - pensioned (even the state has the opinion I’m a total wreck lol). This causes me to be unable to keep up personal connections and makes me ghost literally everyone, so if it happens to you, sorry in advance.
Chronically online.
Pro GenAI, but Anti-GenAI-Corpos; this technology should be available to everyone, which would only be fair since we all contributed to it. Datasets and Models should be under the jurisdiction of UNESCO, since they are literally the distilled cultural output of humanity.

There is a difference between preventing misinformation and outright preventing installation of your software based on domain names, and NOT MAKING THIS PUBLIC and grabbing the list of “banned” domains from an external server (which already shows that they knew this is fucked up). Not even the Russia-Fans Nutomic and Descartes stoop so low.
The first one i can understand. But dbzer0 is not a place of misinformation, (neither is anarchist.nexus for that matter - we are not a homogenous group and i dare you to find me posting misinformation outside of honest mistakes, and it is obvious when something i write is an personal opinion) and there is NOT ONE reason outside of personal animosity to do this.
The Fediverse is not a place for hidden mechanisms like that. They were upfront with their implementation and that they have an opinionated software, which i can understand completely. The swift change towards hidden triggers to prevent usage of their open-source software by whoever they do not like at the moment (and that’s exactly what you are getting into with the mechanism they implemented), and their reaction after being found out, doubling down and inciting defederations instead of doing the right thing, disqualifies this person as a whole in this space.
Edit: The important thing here is: they made it about themselves, not for a larger goal like combating disinformation or making the Fediverse a better place. Their personal animosity vs. specific worldviews tainted their pretty good product. As I said, i have enough criticism regarding the lemmy devs (especially that the finances of lemmy.ml and donations towards lemmy development are intertwined), but even with their left-auth worldview, they did not prevent anyone from using their software because they are “are thinking the wrong way”.
Me too, most games with Anticheat are toxic hellholes anyway. Source: decades of playing LoL, Dota2 and a few other multiplayer titles.
The last PvP multiplayer title i really engaged with that didn’t suffer from that (outside of some random WoW CTF while waiting for the next raid) was Mechwarrior 4 - was recruited into a clan during a public match because i wrecked my opposition pretty good without simply relying on piloting a Daishi. That was a nice experience, pretty cozy atmosphere with these guys.
I did read this, and i find it is a weak excuse for people who want to blabber about things they do not have put an inkling of thought into.

could you please explain? what else outside of hiding censor mechanisms and “incompatibility” because of “i don’t like you” on external URLs could have a similar impact?
If you don’t even try informing yourself, why should someone else help you out? Just to encourage your laziness?

Go for PyLova instead please (the fork of PieFed without a diva dev that implements hidden blocklists and gets pissy if he gets found out).

Well, it would be smarter than if you trained it on 4chan, but not by much.
It would also be a bit less racist, but again not by much.
But it would be well versed in memeology and where to find e-thots on onlyfans.

Spez is really working hard on driving this thing into the ground with as much force as he can muster. He is getting pretty creative with it too! Is there a word for the opposite of “Kudos”?

“Who bears legal responsibility when an agent blows past its guardrails and causes real-world harm?”
That is very easy to answer - the person being responsible for what is running on that hardware when it’s personal hardware, and in corporate environments the manager who is responsible for deploying the agent and the engineers who didn’t ensure this doesn’t happen if they failed in their responsibilities by not monitoring the system (dependent on if the manager even allowed suffcient ressources for monitoring, if not, they should also not share the blame)

Facebook denied the claims, arguing the company has adapted its policies since the state’s lawsuit was filed in 2021 and that it removes 99% of content that violates standards. In a deposition played for jurors, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the company had robust systems to determine whether content should be taken down.
Yes, standard violating content like ads for a play with content from Virginia Woolf. Feminism is for sure “standards violating content” in a fascist state.

Yep, synthetic benchmarks aren’t worth much outside of theoretical performance. Test a complete system as you can actually buy it and with an actual real-life workload - i’m sure the performance will still be good, but nowhere this outstanding.
Edit: that doesn’t even take into account the amount of times companies have been caught cheating on those tests, which is only possible because they are not a real life scenario
Yeah, there haven’t been many titles appearing in the last years. VtMB2 was an utter disappointment (no shade on The Chinese Room tho, they did the best they could with the clusterfuck they got dumped into their laps, look up Charlatan Wonder on YouTube to get a good overview). Abiotic Factor is pretty nice, and there have been some indie games trying to give us a worthwhile experience. I really hope the Ex-Arkane devs band together again to make something really nice for us.
Seems i am one of the ImSim-Minority here :-D

I think so too - we and many others won’t have an issue getting whatever we need. But the broad masses might not, and this legislation also aims at things like repair instructions and tools to fix your shit thanks to Section 1201 of the DMCA.

Next step is blocking access to foreign VPN providers. They are dumb fucks, but they are persistent dumb fucks.

This goes far deeper than just “piracy”. Everyone’s favourite section 1201 of the DMCA also means that this bill will result in the US blocking foreign sites which explain to you how to fix your shit if you have to bypass even the most inane digital lock.

I actually do not see any highlighting using Firefox / ff mobile. It also was pretty late when i posted it - changed it to quotes now

Changed it to quotes - it was late and i was pretty sleepy while doing this, sorry
damn, a dremel and some resin to make it appear unmodified again are enough? the dremel is probably optional - my soldering iron would probably suffice, and some transparent tape well placed could also do the job in a pinch. If Meta wanted these glasses to not be so easily modable, they would have implemented at lease SOME check - make the camera look for the light of the led or smth - make it flash a OTP code to be recognized by the cam, which is fucking easy to do
