To be fair, that was already a Square trope by that point. They loved their “Demon Wall” bosses in the 90s.

On the other hand, I can see a lot of people no longer finding the decomp projects enticing when most of what they see are vibecoded projects. The people that may have been interested in those projects in the future could be totally put off by it now.

I’ve never encountered such a gas station. I’d probably be completely confused and just leave.

I mean, he’d still be wrong in my experience, but aiming for 10-15 min EV charging sounds fine. Would being as fast as gas be preferred? OF COURSE. I don’t want to spend a moment at a gas station that I don’t need to. Hell, I’ll leave if the pump is too slow and get gas sooner at a better place.

That would be one way to force people to use their shitty app.

I’m going to have to agree with the other guy. I have working VHS tapes and working CDs/DVDs that are both over 30 years old. That just means that you didn’t abuse them and kept them away from bad temperature and humidity ranges. CDs were so much better than cassettes that it wasn’t even funny. If you were abusing your CDs so much that they were getting scratched to hell, I can’t imagine you weren’t running into similar issues with your tapes. DVD were vastly better than VHS in much the same way. And the “better” wasn’t even about durability which was probably a wash as they failed in different ways. CDs had better audio quality and better quality of life for the user. You had no need to rewind/fast-forward. The audio didn’t get continually more staticy as time went on. They took up less storage space, especially if you used a CD wallet/book. You didn’t need to clean the heads on a CD player. All these same issues applied to DVD vs VHS other than skipping around a DVD is less common than a CD as movies and shows tend to be viewed sequentially.
The original MSX versions of Metal Gear 1 and 2 are available on PC (steam and maybe other platforms). They are decidedly old and retro at this point, but might be of interest to you.

Mint is under that price. It includes a capped amount of data too, you can just not use it.
Edit: ah, for fucks sake. I fell fore the same thing. Necro’d post.

The favored Nokia flip phone I have seen the kids using was still sub $100 unlocked on Amazon at the start of the year. It could be over $100 now, but it was definitely that low before. It was $70 when I got one for my daughter the previous year when she asked for a flip phone.
I can totally understand the story preference for 2 and 4 (especially 4) over 3. MGS 3 is sort of a slow burn story that pays off in the end in spades where as 2 and 4 are full of wacky Kojima story ideas throughout. Portable Ops just didn’t do it for me, I hated the controls (they made it better with Peacewalker by allowing some other control schemes that somewhat made up for the awful analog stick) . Peacewalker’s story was so good, as it directly ties everything together with first Metal Gear game. I imagine most people didn’t play the first game on either MSX or NES, but I played it dozens of times as a kid so the story hit extra hard.
Peace Walker was pretty great. Portable Ops was kinda bad.
My personal list would be 3, 1, 4, 5, Peace Walker, 2, Metal Gear (MSX), Metal Gear (NES) (they are different enough to warrant this), Metal Gear 2, Portable Ops, Snakes Revenge
Interesting list. I am not sure MGS 2 even makes my top 5 Metal Gear games lmao

That would be crazy indeed and might be possible, but the CPU they compared against is a mobile CPU (Intel Core Ultra 355 that is).

I’m bummed that they never made a third game. Each game was somewhat related to the original game in the series and DQ3 was the best of the bunch.

I don’t know man, the only Bethesda game I can think of that wasn’t a buggy mess is Arena and maybe I just wasn’t looking hard enough.

Interesting, it appears Uematsu did compose a handful of the 60+ tracks. The vast Majority were composed by Mitsuda though.

overhyped, buggy, little innovation, okay-ish graphics
They already said it was a Bethesda game

I don’t agree, but hey that’s what opinions are for. I do have a distinct love for the Chrono Trigger and Xenogears OST that none of Uematsu’s work can top though.
Pretty much all of the Pixel Remaster versions were easier than the originals sadly.
