At least with PC gaming it’s possible to buy an old computer or laptop and have a massive library. It’s not like we’re restricted to the current generation, I could go and play Wasteland on my modern PC with no issue if I wanted to install a couple megabytes.
Also indie games tend to be quite good, I’m currently playing Obenseuer and my buddy and I are doing a run of Abiotic Factor with Valheim and possibly Permafrost on the list. Have to see how Permafrost plays.

Also just to add that the transition from tapes to CDs and DVDs took decades, by the time tapes finally were fazed out blueray was a thing. I have a copy of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkeban on VHS that’s what 04 I also have a copy of Sabatons Great War album on cassette because fuck it why not. Even now cassette still kinda alive.

Honestly Fable was getting a tad messy by the third game, starting over from scratch but using the original as a framework is probably the only way to do it. I feel like if Bethesda were to do a remake of any of the pre Morrowind games it’d be the same way, also I really wish they would remake Redguard because its such a cool game idea wrapped in a jank fest of an engine which funfact is technically 2d fucken Bethesda black magic.

Well when I was saying older my brain was thinking decades older like 06, because I’m a Redneck with access to Linux and will see how well it works. Usually it’s surprisingly functional even if I do have to get some weird ass RAM to do mild upgrades, you’d be surprised how many things used to run on 1GB.
