Assume all that is true, AI can really do well in these fields, but there are some other fields it can’t do well in.

Now who is going to work on those fields? Who is going to take the risk of studying for it, practicing for years, being an expert in the field that takes maybe a decade, and the AI can suddenly solve your field too, and you don’t get anything.

You aren’t faster at checking it out per item. The supermarkets are just keeping it understaffed all the time so the human checkout has a long wait while self checkout does not, so it’s faster to not wait. I try to not use self checkout, but if I have a few items it just makes me feel guilty about making other people wait behind me.

As they keep having understaffed situations, sometimes there’s no other option except self checkout. Which honestly should be illegal.

This is what I was thinking. I’m not worried about the AI that they’re running. I’m worried about the mindset that might be doing it under some belief they have, or tendencies to think of certain things
