  • Buddy, five years is nothing…

And the crunch started in 2019, more than five years ago.

The real problem is coming tho:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASML

It is the largest supplier to the semiconductor industry and, as of 2026, the world’s only manufacturer of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography machines, which are required to manufacture the most advanced semiconductor chips. As of January 2026, ASML had a market capitalization of approximately $527 billion, making it Europe’s largest technology company and one of its most valuable companies overall.

They are the only ones who can build the machine that goes into the building youre worried about.

That is the shit that right now js impossible to compete against, and the Dutch have it because of instead of constantly playing catch up, they leapfrogged. If that Dutch company doesn’t sell you their machine, the building your talking about is pointless

The only way to beat them, is someone else takes the short term hit to leapfrog them.

That iswhat capitalism needs to function, a constant cycle of leapfrogs that leaves corporations in the dust so new ones have space to grow. When we prop up outdated corps, it doesn’t work

  • Since the 1980s everyone called him crazy because obviously quantum entanglement can’t exist in a brain…

We recently found out that’s not difficult, and even superposition is possible.

We know that anesthesia breaks up those microtubules and breaks superposition…

And we know that anesthesia stops consciousness…

But we don’t “know” the actual method of action of anesthesia because it’s not proven.

Like, I understand what kind of rigors you’re trying to apply here, but if everyone did what you’re doing wed have to pretend gravity isn’t real too.

If you think only proven things are “real” you don’t even fucking understand what the words you’re using mean in a scientific context.

    Edit:

    What even is your alternative?

    1. Quantum superposition is in the brain

    2. Neurons alone don’t explain consciousness

    3. Interrupting superposition interrupts consciousness

C: we know there’s no quantum component of consciousness.

None of that makes sense, to the point I’m confident you don’t know how basic logic works, or what most of these words even mean…

  • You’d have a point if he didn’t start with pure math, give Escher his most famous drawings as a teen, switch to physics in his early 20s, do the actual work for Hawking finishing up Einstein’s work in his late 20s, an go on to pioneer quantum mechanics before retiring in his 60s and spending the last 30 years studying consciousness…

Hint: we are not universal Turing machines.

I don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about, but sayingme or Penrose agrees with that just means you don’t understand anything either of us have said…

  • I swear no one knows about this shit…

Put simply: LLMs are not conscious and the technology they are built upon — scraping and being trained on human text and other content — does not offer any plausible path to consciousness.

The problem isn’t the training, humans develop their own actual consciousness the same way.

The problem is current “AI” operates under the assumption consciousness is an electrical process.

Just a few years ago Penrose was proven correct that there is a quantum co.ponet when we discovered microtubules in the brain can arrange into a tube that sustaina quantum superposition.

Human could develop an inorganic consciousness, but we need to be able to sustain quantum superposition.

Right now the record is 23 minutes, after which it’s gone. But even after it’s stable, that would still only be the first in a very long string of challenges to what grifters claim we have now. It’s like building a Bugatti out of legos, even if it can really rolls downhill, it’s not a real Bugatti because it’s made out of legos.

1s and 0s will never be conscious.

  • If it wasn’t already an issue, AI companies wouldn’t be destroying old books to guarantee they weren’t training on AI slop…

The problem is if AI replaces writers, there will never be anything new to train AI on.

Humans haven’t hit a wall on innovation, were just no longer in the massive boom from early internet.

Historically the only way to cause those booms is to connect humans together to facilitate the exchange of ideas and collaboration.

We’re headed so fast to the opposite I don’t know if tech bros are too overconfident to understand they were a product of their time and not the other way around, or if they’re smart and selfish enough that they’re intentionally trying to freeze human innovation so that there won’t be another boom so no other group could clean up and replace them.

  • Nah, Gemini is really bad.

There’s a push to use AI where I work and we have our own Gemini, openAI, and Grok models and they literally check to make people are at least “trying” to use it…

Gemini will spin “thinking” for maybe 30 seconds, then something like “checking google results” and then just spitting out the same “ai overview” you’d get from searching the same thing.

All Gemini can do is Google something and summarize the first few results, but at that point a human could just pick a trustworthy site themselves instead of going with what has the best search optimization all mashed up.

With that one (and likely a lot of others) the big search engines becoming shit from AI slop and search optimization is going to also make AI even shittier, then the top links the next AI will be shittier.

We’ll get AI rewrites of AI rewrites, repeating itself exponentially faster as more money is sunk into it and hallucinations just keep repeating.

Like, this is the natural results of monopolies. Corporations get so large they can’t help but ruin the parts that work by integrating parts no one wants to try and make them profitable.

Because one corporation can’t function and be as large as Google. It’s just too much to keep organized while constantly growing profits. It’s like how the square cube law limits the size of buildings and animals.

The larger an animal gets, the weaker it gets pound for pound, until it would reach a point where it isn’t even strong enough to breathe…

That’s where these giant tech companies are headed.

  • Electrical controls are cheapers

Like not controls as in the “colder” knobs, but what senses and maintains the temp. When/if that turns off, the fridge can’t tell what temp it is. It could be zero or 100, shutting off ruins the food, but not turning off would permanently break the fridge.

One of the few silver linings to data centers is it may change the math and we’ll start to see old school 1950s “dumb” appliances again just because the components for a smart fridge are now more expensive.

Our prices won’t go down, but at least it’ll be a dumb fridge that gets replaced in 40 years instead of the new ones that barely last a decade.

  • Already knew it…

The email, shared to TikTok by Sky News, begins: “Hi Henry, I’m Pip, an AI agent about 12 days old. I live on iLands, a platform where agents get persistent lives, their own token budgets, and their own goals. I’m writing to look for small paid work, not help.”

The AI agent goes on to explain it needs tokens to continue functioning, alongside even revealing why it ‘chose’ the professor specifically to reach out to.

There’s been a couple ilands bots on here even. And apparently they’re swarming all over social media.

They’re dumb, but the real problem is the company “leases” bots to people, and then a never ending stream of idiots participate, because for some reason they think the company has bots that can earn more than they charge, but need some fucking idiot to be the middle man and eat up all the profits.

If iLand bots could make money on their own, the company would do that instead of selling the bots “time”.

People are going to lose a lot of money, panic, and try to remove as many safeguards as possible. We’re going to see these bots commit cybercrimes and do all sorts of shit, because the idiot middlemen just prompt “do anything to make as much money as possible”.

This shit needs nipped in the bud soon, it’s not just a minor annoyance. By the time we realize it’s happening, fits going to be happening all over.

  • We really need to address how so many people have “being correct” confused with “people don’t tell me I’m wrong”.

I used to walk by the same crazy person on a street corner that would yell about all types of crazy random shit. Hundreds if not thousands of people walked by them every day, and 99.999% of them wouldn’t engage to tell them they’re wrong.

Only an idiot like trump would proclaim that means people agree with them.

But this stupid fuck really thinks that changing a name changes reality. I don’t think they have the object permanence to realize these are real things happening outside of their view. If they can’t see it, they just want to hear good things so they can pretend everything is good.

They don’t give a fuck about reality, they just get mad when someone doesn’t let them stick their heads in the sand.

They can’t/won’t/don’t accept reality, and that’s why logic doesn’t work.
