“The cloud” is other people’s computers. The computers may be well managed today but what about next month, next year, three years from now?

If your data is important you gotta take responsibility for it.

Sony is sorta like Ubisoft, they made great things in the past but now seem determined to disappoint their customers.

That would explain a lot.

How much money do they expect to make by taking our water, power, and land and giving us back heated polluted water and noise pollution? It must be hundreds of billions if they are spending a billion just for PR.

And if it does happen, will it be good?

I had so much fun with Ultima III through 7, but it may be hard to recapture the magic.

If they want data centers so damn bad we can be sure they will not be good for us.

In our county Amazon is being allowed to build a massive data center right next to our reservoir, take over maintaining a dam on the creek that comes out of the reservoir, and discharge 98 degree water into the creek.

It also includes trolling and people that are just plain wrong, but people tend to believe what they want to believe.

That’s great, but the mass surveillance definition also fits Google, Meta, and so much of the internet.

The ALPR data is being collected and stored constantly. Does it only become mass surveillance if law enforcement searches it.? That is the next thing to consider IMO.

Depends on whether they look at the fine emotionally or logically. Logically it makes no difference. Emotionally so many billionaires HATE giving up any money that isn’t going to work for them.

I don’t mind taking a break from my phone in the shower. It never would have occurred to me to have it in there.

If the controller is storing the details then yes that’s a big problem. I would hope it would just put the details in RAM long enough to send them and either the memory gets overwritten or all the memory is erased when the controller is off.

This initially sounds horrible, but really is it much different from just typing in the details? Result is the same.
