I guess to be fair, Kagi does have two different AI components. They have their Kagi Assistant which is your bog standard AI chat interface, which does cost extra and is displayed in the details page you are talking about.

But they also have Quick Answer which is like the google AI overview that appears when you make a search. It will summarize the results for you. It auto triggers when you end your search with a ? or if you click the Quick Answer button. It can be disabled. However it does not get charged extra for, it is part of your subscription.

So its kind of both.

That would only be if they charged you more on top of your subscription for the AI usage. If they send part of your sub to the AI company, and don’t reduce your usage of their non AI features, then really it’s just other people not using AI who are subsidizing the chunk kagi lost to the AI company.

If it were truly fungible they wouldn’t be providing subscriptions and it would all be usage based. Subscriptions just allow the users that don’t search as often to subsidize the power users, making Kagi come out ahead overall.

MatrixRTC is part of the Matrix protocol these days, so if the client is compliant, it should work on any server setup for it. I use synapse and livekit, and it works great. Its all just one docker compose stack

Yup same here. Left all servers, messaged the handful of people I chatted with there that I’m leaving and to add me on Matrix if they want to keep in touch, then uninstalled.

I setup my own Matrix homeserver back when discord announced the global age stuff earlier this year, and its been rock solid since then with the couple friends that also weren’t happy with discord. With it being proven reliable for many months now, I don’t really need discord for anything

ah, yeah, I am not sure I have ever seen a website have decent search of its own so I use Kagi for basically every search lol. I just enter my query then add “site:site.com” to the end to limit it to results from that site

I’m not who you replied to, but in the same boat as him. I burn through 300 in a week, let alone a month. In my kagi settings I can see I make around 1100 searches each month. That 300 limit is just not possible for me
