How do we ensure that there’s still a sane part of the internet a few years from now? Will we be able to? Or will everything from the Fediverse to Wikipedia have been completely lost to this?

How do we ensure that there’s still a sane part of the internet a few years from now? Will we be able to? Or will everything from the Fediverse to Wikipedia have been completely lost to this?

Sorry, what? The other side of this coin is not regulating companies like OpenAI and them using their enormous level of influence to push whatever they want. When a large part of the population uses these platforms, and any (political) query always gets replied to with an answer that fits what they want to achieve, what happens?
The potential power these AI companies hold is horrifying. They absolutely should be regulated.
Why? We’ve made THOUSANDS of changes to society over the last century that did not work for everyone, but where a lot of them benefitted the (vast) majority. We should continue having that as the aim. The idea that a solution (for ANY problem) exists that works for literally 100% of the population is silly.
