“I didn’t read the attempts to explain this”
You’re one to talk. lmao
Does the CPU have a serial number that’s visible to the system?
“I didn’t read the article that attempts to explain this and explicitly states CPUs don’t have a unique ID.”
I thought the original headline was misleading but that the story is still extremely cool.
Open Source@lemmy.ml•OpenSubs: I built a subtitle generator that runs Whisper in the browser, so the video never gets uploadedbyTheTechnician27@lemmy.worldEnglish
14 daysWhisper is not an llm, just because it is trained on big datasets does not make it an LLM.
The training dataset consists of 680,000 hours of labeled audio-transcript pairs sourced from the internet using semi-supervised learning.
Brother, I don’t think you know what a large language model is if you think it being trained on a human lifespan’s worth of audio transcripts isn’t enough.
Its job is NLP. It is an LLM, if not as general-use as something like ChatGPT.
Open Source@lemmy.ml•LibreOffice 26.8 Doubles Down on No AI, Right After Collabora Welcomed ItbyTheTechnician27@lemmy.worldEnglish
1 monthHow ironic, then, that this It’s FOSS article reeks of slop.
🆕 LibreOffice 26.8: What’s New?
There’s no AI in LibreOffice 26.8. Nothing about the suite talks to a remote server, and none of it needs an internet connection to work.
This isn’t an oversight; it’s a promise. TDF says that if your work can’t leave the building for legal or privacy reasons, the only way to prove that later (during an audit, for example) is if the software never gave it anywhere to go.
Anyhow, coming back to the editors. 👇
Absolutely fuck this shit.
Edit: Here’s the blog post from TDF themselves if you don’t just want an AI chewing up and vomiting out what the humans behind LibreOffice wrote.

2 monthsIs there no git hosting service left that isn’t pushing censorship and fascism? I think I should just start self-hosting at this point.
Aw, is someone sad that a nonprofit won’t spend their own money to host shitty pump-and-dump tools destroying the environment? Little pissbaby need a minute to compose themself?
Edit: By the way, speaking of fascism, OP…
Edit 2: Just want to say I find it immensely funny that the two people in this thread bitching about this democratic decision and calling it “fascist” and “authoritarian”, respectively, have posted an image of Germany captioned “The aggressor nation?” and knowingly, intentionally continue to fund neo-Nazis in Sweden.
It’s always projection from the “woke moralists!!” crowd.

Well not really, given nothing they said suggested they didn’t read your 6-point excuse to comment on material you haven’t read (I did); you just asserted they didn’t.
