There are users that still swear by cron, but on modern systems a systemd timer is generally advised.

It’s far too convenient for me to be angry at an inanimate object for my coworker’s shortcomings, or some other nonsense that ignores the fact that apathy drives adoption more than anything else.

Update: I didn’t leave a lot of information for myself. Just to install lib32-nvidia-utils if you are on arch. I think this was specifically due to the way they were doing particle effects though, so it’s probably unrelated.
