Technically a portable implementation of AI, so you can say to the boss you’re working with AI right now.

Yes. We’re learning rich assholes will happily turn everything to datacenters as long as the stock price goes up.

And next week someone vibe codes an app that automatically registers all prices on the electronic labels as they walk around with their phone in hand and tells the customers in real time what is overpriced and much cheaper in nearby stores. Store owners will be outraged and demand the app to be taken down. The next day there are five apps doing something similar.

While the agent apps have been billed primarily as time-saving devices, some users have claimed more direct savings — and earnings — by instructing them to do things like cancel unwanted subscriptions, apply for refunds or renegotiate services to get cheaper rates. Multiple social media users say agents have successfully applied to states’ unclaimed property sites to retrieve funds owed to them
I’m taking that one away from the article. And how business don’t seem to appreciate the utility of those kind of agents.

Their argument is going to be that AI is so good, it’ll just replace half of the Fortune 500 with their own agentic AI.

That’s “zero or negative value algorithmic sludge.” Nobody wants to pay for it, often having it around devalues the experience, the platform you’re trying to sell it through and devalues all other products on that platform. There is some small minority able to squeeze money out of this I guess so they keep doing it.

Most companies these says aim for the top 10% of the income market, so rich families and businesses. The bottom 90% is losing purchasing power so not a priority these days. Sounds rational short term and is probably disastrous long term. It’s a great target for China to take over, so when AI pops and they want to return to the consumer market, it’s already taken.

That’s how every ecosystem eventually grows. First come the weeds aimed at colonizing new areas as fast as possible. Then come the small plants, then the shrubs, the trees until it’s a self sustaining forest of different species.

and it’s always somehow better and worse at the same time.
Humanity is always on a meandering route between utopia and dystopia, never arriving at either.
why the hell would anyone play a game with ads?
It’s Microsoft. They made Embrace, Extend, Extinguish their way of life for decades. They can’t conceive competition. And they’re not really that interested anymore in the consumer market. They want to squeeze whatever they can from there before the market shrinks and aim their products more at the premium and business market who has all the money these days.

Entertainment these days is only found in the shadows of society
It’s also inevitable their pop-up gets replaced by humanoid robots next year, using the same logic.
