There’s a chance they actually just believe they are trolling some of the dumber AI brained people by making them think they are hurting something that can’t be hurt.
This whole thing is like the flip side of the “don’t create the Torment Nexus” meme, where fiction depicted something that is entirely a non-issue but people are going to make it an issue because of the fictional depictions (basically any fiction about AI rights where they treat AIs as if they are pretty much artificial human minds, which LLMs are not even close to).

I remember even when I still thought I liked them, I’d never feel satisfied after finishing a meal. For a while I mistook that for meaning I liked the food. Like “oh I just had one but want another already, must be good”. But no, I think now that it was just a sign of my body being well aware that it didn’t have enough nutritional value to meet its needs.
I’ve had other occasions where I’ll finish a combo and wish I had more with other fastfood places, but it’s not a constant experience like it was with McDonald’s.
Hell, that time they did that 2 big macs for $2 (just the burgers) deal, I bought 4 of them. I was full by the end of the 3rd and gave the 4th away but still wasn’t satisfied, I just couldn’t physically fit any more in my stomach.
Anyways, all that to say that any price is “too much” for those empty calories. But yeah, it used to be ok for “something quick and cheap to put in your stomach on a long drive” but even that is no longer the case.

Yeah, my first thought was that such a system was likely gameable.
But then my second thought was that idgaf what any of the McDonald burgers cost. The price they’d need to set to get me to “buy” them wouldn’t be economically viable for the company because I have no clue how a “pay customers to take our burgers” scheme could work out favorably for them.
In the order I played them,
Metroid Prime, WoW, Subnautica, Satisfactory, Hollow Knight

Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate that someone was able to appreciate my ramblings lol.
I did try it to Toxicity yesterday and it was tight but I was at the end of my shower when the song finished, but then noticed that drying off took another 3 mins and then more time for everything after that. Though it was a bit rushed and not something I’ll go for each shower.

Trying to race songs is how I got much better at having quick showers. I did pick long ones like Green Grass and High Tides or Through the Fire and Flames, and it took a while to be able to beat them.
First about a minute for the water to heat up and water rinse for the whole body. Short hair, but it’s like 30 seconds for shampoo, scrub, rinse, then another 30 seconds for face lather, scrub, and rinse. Then lather up a washcloth, scrub pits and groin, rinse, about 1 minute total. That still leaves two extra minutes for a 5 minute shower to shave your ass or whatever, and the two songs I listed are over 5 minutes (Over 9 for GGHT, over 7 for TFF).
If you want a 5 minute song, Muse - Uprising is 5:04. Though if you can follow the schedule I laid out above, you could shower to Toxicity and have 30 seconds of song or so after you get out of your shower.
I’ll give it a try for my next shower because it does sound a bit tight and I didn’t progress beyond being able to shower beyond being able to finish before TFF, but I think it’s doable.

I gave him a dollar to make him go away.

When I was watching Naruto Shippuden on Netflix, I eventually caught up to the episodes NF had but obviously it wasn’t the end of the series. I quickly found alternative places to stream the rest, and from there would occasionally find new animes to watch. Sites would last for a while and then get taken down, then the usual response on my end would be to just do another search and pick up where I left off.
The last time a site went down for me, I wasn’t able to find another one quickly. I’m sure they still exist, but my assumption is that the big search engines are using LLMs to filter results based on what their owners deem acceptable, at least when they can say it wasn’t legal anyways.
I’ve also been surprised at some of the “zero results” searches. Can’t think of any examples offhand, just that some were surprising.
Though I use DDG instead of Google, so YMMV and it might just be Microsoft doing this.
That’s also ignoring the access to data question. Who knows how much the providers are logging. It wouldn’t surprise me if “new companies” pop up out of the blue with surprisingly competitive hardware and software sometime in the next decade.
