are they, or they just only vote on this single issue, and then they go right back to voting republican.
Goldholz @lemmy.blahaj.zoneEnglish
9 minutesIt is seriousely beyond me that for so many people it first has to hurt them before they react. Instead of thinking long term based and not short term emotional and egotistical
- banana69696969@lemmy.worldEnglish5 hours
Decades of leftist organizing couldn’t do it. One server farm drinking the town aquifer to make AI slop did it in a year.
- rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zoneEnglish4 hours
As they say in labor organizing, the boss is the best organizer
- SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zoneEnglish6 hours
It’s not the data centers that people hate, it’s the total, absolute lack of care of human well being that can only come from conservative leadership implementing said data center, the software, the laws, the AI, the jobs, the taxes, the society, etc.
Oh wait, this isn’t actually about datacenters at all, it’s because Republicans are fucking awful human beings and awful at everything, and are ruining everything.
Wow! 🌈 🔔 🎉
- Tollana1234567@lemmy.todayEnglish32 minutes
that is why all these massive AI datancenters are mostly in republican/rural areas, they know there will be little to no pushback from the gop controlled states, or the people living there. republicans in general do not protests en masse, they may vote this one time against them.

It’s funny I see this interviews etc… and I’m still not convinced
the dumbest rural 24/7 fox news watching, over 50 year old, truck driving, mozzarella stick and ice cream treat eating, “Applebee’s, redlobster and olive garden are fancy eatin” Hogs will never vote in a democrat.
Like if Kansas, Iowa, or Nebraska flips blue maybe I’ll change my mind
if Mississippi flips blue I’ll go to church
Sundray@lemmus.orgEnglish
52 minutesBest you can hope for with people that deep in the red mindset is to discourage them from voting. They can’t bring themselves to vote for a “Dumbocrat”, but if they hate their own party’s option enough, they won’t vote for them either, just stay home in miserable despair.
That’s what we have to hope for.
- Mastengwe@sh.itjust.worksEnglish6 hours
More copium for the masses. No one is leaving MAGA. Anyone smart enough to do this would have done it back when he was found to have raped children. The rest are bought and paid for simps.
- Tollana1234567@lemmy.todayEnglish32 minutes
im not seeing them turn on them, except for the older voters, 65+ and even then only some of them.
dan1101@lemmy.worldEnglish
12 hoursA shitton of voters will NEVER vote for a Dem, no matter how bad things get. For some it’s gun rights, for others it’s being anti-abortion or anti-LGBT, and most believe liberals are EXTREMISTS because Fox News pounds that into their brain 24/7.
- Rolder@reddthat.comEnglish11 hours
With how close our elections typically are, you don’t need to convince every single one, just picking away at the fringes should be enough
- reksas@sopuli.xyzEnglish12 hours
i wonder if they would change their behavior even if both parties changed their stances on the issues, like republicans calling for gun bans (for anyone on their shitlist) and democrats to keep it as it is
- Professorozone@lemmy.worldEnglish3 hours
Well the funny thing is, it was Republicans that suggested taking guns from trans people. I think this confused MAGA. They didn’t know if they should be pro-guns or anti-trans.
- webadict@lemmy.worldEnglish6 hours
Lmao.
I can’t even think of anything they do other than ban assault weapons and implement red flag laws. They just usually say “sensible gun reform”, and, like, everyone agrees with that, so I just don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about.
Legitimately, the only time I hear about Dems attacking guns is when there’s a fucking election and Republicans and gun manufacturers claim they’ll take your guns away. I’m still waiting on Obama to take my guns.
- KeithD@lemmy.nzEnglish32 minutes
Wasn’t Reagan the one who initially implemented California’s restrictive gun laws?
And, of course, we all know which president said “take the guns first, go through due process second” during his first term. But, to be fair, Obama’s been living rent-free in that guy’s head for more than a decade…
- tidderuuf@lemmy.worldEnglish14 hours
Just wait until they hear about what billionaires are doing to their children.
Sundray@lemmus.orgEnglish
50 minutesI’m not convinced that MAGAs would actually see a problem with that…
- kaitco@lemmy.worldEnglish15 hours
Nothing will push them to vote Dem.
They may vote for an independent candidate or not vote at all, but they will not vote Dem, regardless of how many Dem policies align with their own.
- Tollana1234567@lemmy.todayEnglish34 minutes
independants are really just aligned with the gop, as spoilers.
- VinegarChunks@lemmus.orgEnglish11 hours
Obama won in 2012. Trump won in 2016. Then a bunch of his voters switched and Biden won in 2020. And then a bunch of his voters switched to Trump in 2024.
It seems inarguable that a critical number of voters are absolutely capable of changing their minds.
- AHemlocksLie@lemmy.zipEnglish14 hours
Is it really defeatism, though? Simply not voting at all could turn tides. And it’s not like Republicans haven’t proven them right again and again and again and again. Republicans are conditioned HARD to never, ever consider voting for a Democrat.
- StabbingSky@lemmy.zipEnglish10 hours
I think it is considering the assertion was they’re never going to change… On an article about them changing.
- AHemlocksLie@lemmy.zipEnglish8 hours
It’s not saying that Republicans are voting Democrat, though. It’s just saying there’s a surge in votes for Democrats in rural areas that are traditionally conservative. That could mean that Republicans are voting for Democrats, but past evidence suggests it’s far more likely to just be latent Democrats actually bothering to go out and vote in areas where they’d traditionally get drowned out.
dan1101@lemmy.worldEnglish
12 hoursJust because many of the MAGA are beyond redemption, people still need to VOTE! A lot of the reason we have trump 2.0 is because 66% of voters didn’t vote.
- Gerudo@lemmy.zipEnglish10 hours
Nailed it. I’ve seen posts on local social media literally descring what you just said. They won’t vote D no matter what, but they wont vote R this election either so they are staying home.
- Zephorah@discuss.onlineEnglish14 hours
Depends. Data centers are a bipartisan issue. Don’t believe the bot feeds that try to play it off as otherwise.
- 14 hours
Wouldn’t them voting for an independent candidate still mean they’re not voting for a republican? Wouldn’t that still be a net plus?
- hdsrob@lemmy.worldEnglish10 hours
Yea… my super maga dad is all pissed off about data centers. Don’t think it would get him to vote dem, but it did sway his primary vote towards an anti DC candidate.
- SlurpingPus@lemmy.worldEnglish4 hours
I thought yall guys over there are all proud of how the US is the epicenter of the whole internet. Hmmm, I wonder, where said internet is hosted.
- Zephorah@discuss.onlineEnglish14 hours
It’s a majority hate line, regardless of party. There’s always that one voice arguing for in any feed, but with bots out on patrol that is expected.
- anon_8675309@lemmy.worldEnglish14 hours
I don’t really believe this. Yes, a lot hate data centers but they blame dems.
tocopherol@lemmy.dbzer0.comEnglish
12 hoursThey blame dems, but it seems like they see the less mainstream democrats that are pushing away from the corporate dems as more promising, like there have been a handful of former Trump voters who said they liked Mamdani because he’s doing something different and trying to make things more affordable for average people.
- 10 hours
Some Republican operatives called a bunch of voters who flipped from Trump to Mamdani and asked why? And some of them said Mamdani was conservative. The operatives were like no he’s not he’s socialist, to which they said Mamdani was talking about things being affordable, which is a conservative position. These people really are fucking stupid as shit.
eicker@lemmy.worldEnglish
16 hoursTurns out »bringing the future to rural America« is a tougher sell when the future arrives as a windowless warehouse guzzling water and electricity while your bills climb. Republicans get the backlash, Democrats get the votes, and both parties get checks from the same tech lobby. Truly bipartisan innovation.
- 14 hours
Conservative rural voters are already demonstrably susceptible to propaganda.
