Perfect, a vibe coded mess with full access to all files in my filesystem. Yeah, no thank you! I stay with heroic launcher to look at my collection of free epic games that I never play…

It’s also a vibecoded mess and they’re literally advertising it as such: https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:k6kg5ccozcphfcmp4zyx3s64/post/3mxtzp6xtwc2u

Legitimately I’d suggest ditching it entirely, or at the very least removing any financial or personal info from your account, because this shit just screams “massive financial breach” in 3-6 months tops.

Sounds like Epic achieved perfect feature parity with their Windows launcher.

Beyond all that… AppImage? Fuck that’s what they’re going with, really? I get that it’s platform agnostic or whatever but it’s literally my least favorite way to get an app delivered to me because it’s so fucking opaque. I know that’s probably an unpopular opinion, but I do, I hate AppImages. It feels like the lazy assholes way of committing to Linux support when they’re a giant corporation. This isn’t some guy coding it all on his own in his basement for no money because it’s open source. I can live with that because that guy is just one guy and maybe doesn’t have the time or resources to pack it five different ways. But a company that big? Go fuck yourself, Tim Sweeney.

                  1.8x faster startup than Steam*

1.2x faster from the background to your library than Steam*

Yeah sure that’s definitely the problem with steam glad that Tim Sweeney fixed that for me, I’m so ready to ditch steam now.

                  I hate marketing bullshit.

*Average of 5 tests on each of 13 machines, excluding the 3 lowest-end machines tested.

                      Is this normal??

Aaaaaaahhhh Sweeny swine dude. How the turns tabled. He came back like the little bitch he is. 😂😂😂😂. And now since it’s way too late, watch no one from the Linux community touch this trash.

All the exclusives are trash and the launcher performs like shit even on windows. Keep it. I don’t want it.

100% agree, I don’t think I’ll ever use Epic store because of the way they decidedly sabotaged Linux in the beginning.

Can I play competitive games like Fortnite?

Yes, once you’re in a game you’re good to go. All of the services will work as intended, and there’s nothing that would prevent casual or competitive play.

It’s good seeing more popular games adapt to Linux by adjusting their AC.

I see. I thought the effect is some reflection, because it is blocked on my system. I’m sorry for the confusion.

                                            From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word “Linux” in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.
