• Hi I work on bluefin, it’s impossible to tell what the problem is without reading the error you received.

We don’t claim it’s unbreakable (or immutable) it just means you have a better chance of an upgrade working that day vs. what it replaces. There’s still tons of places for things to go wrong, boot loader, etc. If you have the error log somewhere I can take a look.

  • We have been using Aurora, Bluefin, and Bazzite in our household for about a year and a half and have yet to have an issue on any of them. Aurora is installed on our shared desktop and laptop. Bazzite is installed on a gaming handheld and a gaming PC, and my wife uses Bluefin on her ThinkPad. They are the most issue-free Linux installs I’ve ever had. I just remind everyone to reboot at least monthly. Of there is a security fix, I make sure everyone reboots sooner.

I do run plain Fedora on my laptop because I don’t like being tied to Flatpaks but I do think immutable or atomic is the best for less experienced users.

The upside to immutable is you can’t unintentionally change the system to break it. The downside to immutable is you can’t intentionally change the system to fix it, if it somehow does break from updates

    • So how does one fix? Revert?

Just curious, never used immutable distro but have considered.
