5 daysEw no what the fuck why would I want Teams to run in my brain it’s bad enough on a Windows desktop.

5 daysIt IS an emulation. Wine only allows us to run windows applications not windows itselfWrong

btw the joke is that Wine literally stands for “Wine Is Not an Emulator”
That’s not what emulation is. Emulators imitate hardware. WINE receives Windows system cells and returns the appropriate responses.

5 daysMy fault, I genuinely thought wine was an imitation. Honestly I don’t use it much

It is by Wine alone I set my .exe’s in motion
It is by prefix creation that DLLs acquire form
The registry acquires keys
The keys hopefully don’t cause warnings

Literally the only reason I keep a Windows machine around is to run proprietary software that I simply can’t replace, like games and software suites for specific hardware.
Thanks to WINE/Proton, I can’t even remember the last time I turned on that Windows machine. I think it might’ve been years. I should probably turn it on just to cycle the battery (notebook) a little and run updates.

This must we why WINE never worked for me. I tried running it without drinking alcohol first
